Parish Council Elections - 2 May 2019

Elections of 528 parish/town councillors across 65 Parish/Town Councils will be elected on 2 May 2019.

 

Each parish/town councillor is elected for a period of four years.

 

Elections will be held on Thursday 2 May 2019. Details of the parishes and the number of seats for each parish are available here.

 

Guidance for Candidates:

 

Qualifications for standing as a candidate
To qualify as a candidate at a Parish Council election a person must be 18 years of age and a Commonwealth citizen, citizen of

Republic of Ireland or a citizen of another Member State of the European Union and either:

 

i) be registered as a local government elector within the Parish; or
ii) have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises during the whole of the previous 12 months within the Parish; or
iii) his/her principal or only place of work during the whole of the previous 12 months has been within the Parish; or
iv) have resided in the Parish for the whole of the previous 12 months or within three miles of it.
